Hello there fellow trainers, I hope you all are doing well. Recently there was a post on our blog which discussed the possibility of the introduction of certain convenience features which collectively will improve the overall appeal of the game.
So recently I was jotting down points about various ways the gym battling mechanisms could be altered. Now there was something that was so damn obvious that skipped my thought process many times.
The idea that gyms being infested with specific Pokemon. Literally anywhere in the world, wherever you go, it is most likely you will find the same Pokemon, well the usual suspects are Dragonite, Gyarados, Blissey, Rhydon, Tyranitar to name a few.
Well, any well informed Pokemon fan will know the basics of Pokemon battling based on type advantages, and they have specific counters for each of the above-mentioned common gym defender Pokemon. For instance, to best Gyarados Jolteon is a good option, for Blissey Machamp and Primeape are considered good counters.
Now every now and then we will find gyms in the city which are just packed with these common tier defenders, I have seen gyms that are Level 10 and packed with Blisseys. Now to counter such gyms most of you out there would have a specific set of Pokemon with favorable moves like Cross Chop, Submission that will deal the best possible damage.
Among the entire list of Pokemon that I caught, it will take me a while to pick the best Pokemon with the correct moves and CP and if the game had a simple ability to just make an “Anti-Blissey” team or an “Anti-Dragonite” team, it would be awesome right,
Initially when the game launched for about a week or so, the actual recommended Pokemon list when fighting a gym made sense, now after 6 months that is completely useless and makes no sense at all, instead of the recommended list, if we had a “Favorite Lineup” it would be so much more useful, and will save trainers a ton of time when fighting a gym.
Seriously speaking, it wouldn’t even take Niantic much time to make this change, just a little bit of coding and then things will be alright, well that will be another small step to make things better in the game.
