Monkey D. Luffy, also known as "Straw Hat Luffy" and commonly as "Straw Hat", is the main protagonist of the manga and anime, One Piece. He is the founder and captain of the increasingly infamous and powerful Straw Hat Pirates. Even though Luffy is on of the strongest guys in the series, he, at some points faced defeats. So today we will count down all the times Luffy was defeated!
9. Smoker
Smoker is a Marine officer stationed at the G-5 base. He was first introduced as a captain in Loguetown. In their first meeting, Smoker easily defeated Luffy. Luckily for Luffy, Dragon saved him, otherwise the story would've ended a lot sooner.
8. Donquixote Doflamingo
Donquixote Doflamingo, nicknamed "Heavenly Yaksha", was the captain of the Donquixote Pirates, a former Shichibukai. Even though Luffy defeated Doflamingo later but in the beginning of their fight, Doflamingo was toying with Luffy and almost killed, then came Gear Fourth and everything changed.
7. Rob Lucci
Rob Lucci is a current member of CP-0, having originally been the strongest member of CP9 unit operating undercover to obtain the Pluton blueprints from Iceburg. Rob Lucci pounded Luffy like a pulp. Luffy was beaten so bad that he couldn't even stand up, however, Luffy's emotions helped him defeat Lucci.
6. Fujitora
Fujitora, is a Marine admiral. He was conscripted into the Marines through a World Military Draft during the two-year timeskip along with fellow newcomer Ryokugyu, both filling the two vacancies in the admiral positions caused by Kuzan's resignation and Sakazuki's promotion. Well, no one really expected Luffy to beat an Admiral this early. However, Luffy didn't do too bad vs Fujitora.
5. Aokiji
Aokiji, is a former Marine admiral and the first one to be revealed. He was nominated by Sengoku for the position of fleet admiral. However, after losing the position to Sakazuki, he resigned from the Marines and affiliated himself with the Blackbeard Pirates. Aokiji effortlessly, not only defeated Luffy but the entire Straw hats crew. No one really stood a chance.
4. Crocodile
Crocodile is the former president of the mysterious crime syndicate Baroque Works. Crocodile defeated Luffy, not once but twice. If Robin wasn't so kind, Luffy would've really died.
3. Charlotte Katakuri
Charlotte Katakuri is the second son and third child of the Charlotte Family. He is one of the Three Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates as well as Totto Land's Minister of Flour, governing over Komugi Island. Tbh, Katakuri was effortlessly beating the sh*t out of Luffy. However, just like in Doflamingo's case, Snake man changed everything.
2. Akainu
Akainu, is the current fleet admiral of the Marines, succeeding the previous fleet admiral, Sengoku. During the first half of the series, he was one of the three admirals. The closest Luffy has been to death was by the hands of Akainu. If not for Ace's sacrifice, Luffy would be dead.
1. Big Mom
Charlotte Linlin, more widely known as Big Mom, is the captain of the Big Mom Pirates and the only female member of the Yonko. She for a brief moment went head-to-head against Monkey D Luffy in the Whole Cake Island arc. Luffy straightaway used his gear fourth form against her, but her haki was way more superior to Luffy’s haki that Luffy, in an instant, fell unconscious.
